ANN LIBERATI - Founder and owner of Canines Unleashed, pictured with Zoe and Ziggy.
Ann worked in the corporate world for over ten years before leaving to start one of Syracuse's most successful dog day care facilities. Shortly before that, a very special Great Dane named Zoe came into Ann's life. Zoe was destructive when left home alone, so Ann created Canines Unleashed for Zoe and other pet parents with dogs like her. Ann is trained in dog behavior and certified in animal first aid and CPR. Married, and the proud mom of three grown children as well as Zoe, Ziggy, and Dallas (all Great Danes), Ann now has an extended family of 400 dogs - all guests of Canines Unleashed.
JEN EDGERTON - Manager, pictured with Angel and Otto.
Like Ann, Jen also chose to leave the corporate world after many years to pursue her lifelong dream of working with animals. A graduate of Syracuse University and the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming, she is a Certified Professional Groomer and is also certified in animal first aid and CPR. Jen is mom to a Shepherd/Doberman mix named Georgia, a Shepherd/Rottweiler mix named Romey, and two cats named O'Malley and Olivia. Kathy was instrumental in building the Canines Unleashed we know today. She spent many long hours working and patiently waiting while we grew - believing, with Ann, that "if we build it, they will come" - and they did! Married with two children, Kathy is also mom to a Golden Retriever named Annie, a Shepherd mix named Finn, and two cats, Oreo and Emily.
AMY RIVARD - Pack Leader/Caregiver and Customer Service Specialist, pictured with Biff.
Amy is not only a pack leader, but also works our front desk and is the "face" of Canines Unleashed for our afternoon departures. No stranger to large groups of dogs, Amy grew up with several Goldens, a couple of Huskies, a Lab, and a Newfie. Amy attended Syracuse University and is married. Biff is a Lab/Shepherd mix and calls Amy "mom" at home. Amy is also mom to Max the Boxer. As a pack leader at Canines Unleashed for more than four years, Jill has proven that physical size means nothing when it comes to respect. Standing at just 4'11", Jill uses her knowledge of dog behavior and communication to work effectively with the dogs. An avid horse lover, she plans to continue her work with animals in the future. Jill has a cat at home named Grayson. Amanda recently jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire by making the switch to Canines Unleashed after working at a children's daycare. She has a Second Degree Black Belt in karate and we think the dogs know it! A graduate of Baldwinsville High School and Onondaga Community College, Amanda is mom to a Boxer named Mack.
PATTI SMITH - Pack Leader/Caregiver, pictured with Timber.
Patti was raised in sunny Los Angeles and moved to the Syracuse area only recently. She's been very busy since arriving because in addition to caring for the guests of Canines Unleashed, she's studying to be a real estate agent, recently fostered 8 puppies and their mom, and still finds time to run a Pit Bull rescue message board. On the homefront, Patti is mom to a Pit Bull named Tater and a cat named Snowball.
SARAH KOCH - Pack Leader/Caregiver, pictured with Gryphon.
Sarah brings a variety of experience to Canines Unleashed. Having grown up in Rochester with lots of Lab mixes and a number of cats, she also worked for two years at another large dog day care. An avid horse lover, Sarah has a degree in Equine Science from SUNY Morrisville. Sarah is mom to Charlie, a Shepherd mix and two cats named Hiller and Cricket. Jolee knows the meaning of the word menagerie. She grew up with a number of different dog breeds from a St. Bernard to a Rottweiler to a couple of Airedales - and that's just to name only a few. She's a graduate of Baldwinsville High School and currently shares her home with her Pomeranian Honey, three cats named Maeby, Elliott, and Annalese, 20 fish, a turtle named Beau, and is the new mom to Kobi, a Great Dane. Dawn gives Jolee a run for her money in the menagerie department. She's not only mom to an Irish Setter named Montana and a cat named Lucky, but she also cares for a hamster, several reptiles, nine mice, a bunch of fish, a bunny named Crispin and two finches named Paula and Steve. Dawn is a member of the Syracuse Obedience Training Club (SOTC) and formerly competed in dog shows with Montana as a member of the 4H Club where they won several blue ribbons. Dawn is a Certified Professional Groomer certified in animal first aid and CPR and graduate of the Rochester Institute of Dog Grooming. With eight years of experience working at a local kennel, Tyler is no stranger to the variety of dogs here at Canines Unleashed. A graduate of Phoenix High School and former singer in a band, he is an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoys canoeing and hiking. Tyler shares his home with an Australian Shepherd/Lab mix named Charlotte and three cats named Eddie, Begita, and Wilbur. Above all else, Tyler loves spending time with his three year old daughter, Evelyn. Dirty paw prints are a piece of cake for Reve. With her degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from SUNY Potsdam, she has had the opportunity to travel and really play in the dirt. A graduate of Corcoran High School, Reve has studied the Mayan ruins in Mexico and has participated in archaeological digs at the James Madison Plantation in Virginia as well as in the swamps of Florida. Reve is mom to Chino, a Rottweiler, and a very lucky little mixed breed puppy named Gizmo recently found abandoned on a dark road. Kayla recently completed a 17,000 mile cross-country camping trip to Alaska - 86 days in the great outoors! A graduate of Liverpool High School, Kayla has a degree in Environmental Biology from SUNY ESF and may continue her education in the future to become a teacher. Though she grew up with Golden Retrievers, she's now the proud mom of Jeter, a Labrador Retriever/Springer Spaniel mix. Kayla also shares her home with a cat named Jack. |
